Their denial can be so powerful that they simply cannot see how much their drinking is causing negative consequences in their life.
A recent study by the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) has indicated that over 32% of high school seniors reported not being aware that alcohol can produce death via overdose.
In 2009, the Monitoring the Future Survey reported that 37% of 8th graders and 72% of 12th graders had tried alcohol, and 15% of 8th graders and 44% of 12th graders drank during the past month.
