  • Scientists have proven that cumulative, life-long alcohol consumption can inflict damage on central auditory pathways, which is reflected as hearing loss.
  • In 1984, the Federal Government enacted the National Minimum Drinking Age Act, which calls for reduced Federal transportation funds-the money States use to build and repair their highways-to those States that did not raise the minimum legal drinking age to 21. Today, drinking by anyone under age 21 is against the law in every State and in the District of Columbia.
  • There are over 25 brands of Caffeinated Alcoholic Beverages sold in a variety of U.S. retail alcohol outlets, including many convenience stores.
  • Alcohol is broken down by the liver at the rate of approximately one unit per hour (a pint of normal strength beer being two units). As a result, it is possible to still be under the influence of alcohol the following morning.
