  • The 2009 Youth Risk Behavior Survey found that among high school students, during the past 30 days 24% binge drank.
  • The absorption of alcohol into the small intestine is slower on a full stomach.
  • According to the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse, it was determined that college students were more likely to intervene in a drunk-driving situation if they knew and liked the driver, but only if the driver was evaluated to be dangerous and they felt that they would be able to help. Students were less likely to intervene when they were drunk themselves, or when they were afraid of how their intervention would affect their relationship with their peers.
  • Even moderate alcohol use (2-3 drinks) can result in a loss of motor coordination for up to 18 hours after the last drink.
