- In 2005, there were more than 1.6 million hospitalizations and more than 4 million emergency room visits for alcohol-related conditions.
- An individual who has an alcohol addiction will continue to drink in spite of the negative consequence that this behavior causes; these consequences often include problems in their relationships of fighting with family members because they do not like the way that the individual acts when they are drinking.
